Busy, Busy

I have a lot of pictures for today's post. When I was signing off last time--yes, I said signing off as if I were some kind of important news anchor or something. Psh--I was going to see Batman: The Dark Knight. It started with two big black guys (Blueberry and his brother) and Boyfriend, all in a mini van. Sound funny? It's a good thing I took pictures then...

Now you see where we get the nickname Blueberry, then. He really shouldn't wear blue. It just eggs us on.

But anyway, we had about an hour to sp
are before eleven, which is when we planned to arrive at the midnight movie. So we went to one of Boyfriend's friend's house and they played some video games. I'm not sure which ones. All I know is that Boyfriend kind of sucked at them. He was getting killed more than he was killing.

Once at the movie, it was already extremely packed. And we were there an hour early! There was a whole group of idiots standing outside, and I say they were idiots because there was an even longer line inside at the various theaters that were showing the movie. Why stand outside and risk getting a bad seat when you could go in? Air conditioning is a big plus, too. The picture to the right is of the smarter people who actually went inside and formed lines. See the guy who painted his face like the Joker?

I'm not a movie critic, so all I can say is that the movie was awesome. Heath Ledger as the Joker--astonishing. They won't be able to use that character again, just because no one else would do it as much justice. Yet it was also an extremely long movie at two and a half hours, and there was a lot of talking at s
ome points. Still, you should definitely go see it.

There was a bit of an incident that night, though. Some friends from college who are in town had formed a whole group to go see it. It was a little upsetting that they didn't contact me, as they were those people I considered to be the first group I would turn to if I just wanted a night away from the studying and time with friends. I guess I'll have to rethink that now.

Oh, and here's one of many pictures (the only one I thought I looked good in, really) of Boyfriend and I.

Today was a wedding shower from a friend of mine in my Greek class last semester. I went down to Tuscaloosa at around twelve to arrive in time for the party, which started at two. Yet I was early. I guess it's better than being late, but I still felt bad because they were still setting up when I got there.

There were tons of little hand foods, like fruits and veggies and cupcakes. But the best thing was the cream cheese wedding cake. Everyone thought it was just a little miniature cake, but really it was a spread for the crackers. The cute little blonde next to me is the bride the party was for.

Oh, and on the way back from Tuscaloosa we saw a deer! This time it wasn't an imaginary one, which we usually joke about. Boyfriend has mentioned seeing deer at least three times, but no one who is in the car

with him ever sees it. I did, though, and now there is a picture to prove it, as well. See if you can spot it, because we couldn't get too close without it scampering away.
I know, it's kind of hard to spot. Anyway, the best part of the past few days was that I finished my first knitting project! The baby hat for charity was completed on the needle on the drive up to Tuscaloosa, and then stitched together at around nine o'clock tonight. Pictures!

Now I'm just itching to start another project, but I don't know what it
should be. Any ideas?

Mother Knows Best

I find it quite ironic that it is my mother who is the technologically advanced of us two. She has been helping me with this website and the ravelry stuff lately, as well as the whole teaching me to knit thing. I guess I really am just a daughter who needs her mother's help, no matter how old I am.

Still, I think my friends would be able to figure out HTML stuff. I just find it way too time-consuming.

Thanks for all of the comments. It made me feel very welcome. *blush* Someone commented that I should add more pictures, so I added the "Places to See Before You Die" widget, a favorite from my own iGoogle page. I've also taken a picture of the project I've been working on:

It's a baby hat for charity. Don't have much, as you can tell, but once I'm done with it I will show picture of the completed project. And maybe the details for it and everything, too.

There has been way too much drama for me concerning Boyfriend. But its not him at all, but his school. I don't want to just put all my dirty laundry in the web, but it does concern his school, so I'm very worried. He was all excited to be on the Million Dollar Band (which he still is) and now he has to worry about money. And he didn't even find out about it until today. I'm hoping everything will turn out okay.

Haven't gotten much farther in Who Killed Homer? Just enough to realize that if Classics declines, there will be absolutely no way of teaching kids where everything we hold dear comes from. Free market? Citizens say in controlling politics? Yeah.

Will comment on all of the people who commented on me when I have the time. For now, I'm going to see the midnight showing of Batman: the Dark Knight!

Now, The Beginning

I've still got some more tinkering to do with this site, as I'm not completely happy with how it looks yet (it seems too boring and impersonal right now), but I figured I'd go ahead and start writing about my boring life. :-P

I went to see Hellboy 2 for the second time last night with Boyfriend and Blueberry. That wasn't the best part, as I had already seen it two days before and wasn't quite as excited about it. What
was great was that I got to see the Twilight preview on the big screens above the concession stand. (Yes, mother, I realize you are going to be laughing at me for saying that.) I'm mainly excited for the book, but it was still pretty cool to see the preview in theaters instead of on my little laptop at home.

I've started reading Who Killed Homer, about how the study of Greek and Latin (Classics) is declining and will most likely disappear for awhile. This is horrible, because no matter how much people think that knowledge is useless, it really is important. It used to be that the study of Greek and Latin was required for most everyone. Royalty definitely had to learn it. And farmers on the field would still read Virgil and such. Not only does the Classics increase a person's vocabulary, it also gives them the ability to work hard and keep at something that is--yes--difficult.

But perhaps I'm biased. I also don't want Classics to disappear just because I can't imagine not being able to go to school just to study something I love. How can people ignore that very culture that developed everything they know and love today? And it's not just the educational reasons; the Greeks and Romans were such interesting people. I mean, some of their stories are like soap operas. That has to be interesting to the thousands of people who watch Days of Our Lives or something, right?

Okay, I guess I should stop ranting now. Anyway, I have my first Knit Club tonight. I mean, I've been before with my mom, but I've never actually gone to knit. This will be the first time, and I hope I don't mess up too badly on my scarf.

Leave some comments!

Testing, 123

Just making sure everything is working and all that stuff. I'll tweak more stuff later, but right now I'm late for work. :-P
